Use of Concrete Batching Mixing Plants in Infrastructure

 Concrete batching plant is a machine or Equipment used for the preparation of concrete by using various ingredients. A concrete batching plant also known as a batch plant or batching plant or a concrete plant, is equipment that mixes with various ingredients to prepare concrete containing water, air, fly ash, cement, aggregate (rocks, gravel, etc.), admixtures, silica fume, slag, and sand. Batching of concrete could be done by both weight batching and volume batching.

Types of  Concrete Batching Plants

Stationary Concrete Batching Plant :

It is also known as a Fixed type concrete batching plant. Stationary or Fixed concrete batching plants are  placed far away from the construction site & Concrete is transferred to the construction site with the help of a truck mixers & tippers.

Mobile Concrete Batching Plant :

Sometimes the cost of transporting the concrete will be high as per the quantity of concrete,  it becomes more expensive to establish a Fixed type concrete batching plant. In those cases Tyre mounted Mobile plants are installed at those site which can be shifted from one place to other with the help of tyres. Mobile Concrete Plants can be feeded either with loaders or manually with the help of labor.

Advantages of Concrete Plants :

*Better quality concrete is produced.
concrete batching plant can serve a larger area.
* Production increases.
* lesser requirement of manpower.
wastage of  materials is regulated.

Cement Screw Conveyors for Concrete Batching Plants

 What is a Screw Conveyor used for in Concrete Batching Mixing Plants ?

Screw conveyors are used to convey Cement or Fly Ash from almost any position (vertical, horizontal, or at an incline) and are one of the most reliable methods of conveyance. The screw conveyor is composed of a pipe with a welded steel strip that is formed into a continuous helix.

What is the maximum working angle for a screw conveyor ?

Incline Between 10 and 20-Degrees – Loss in conveying efficiency is typically between 10 and 40-percent on inclines up to 20-degrees . a screw conveyor with U-trough and 2/3-pitch screw is sufficient for most applications . Efficiency of a screw conveyor is maximum while working on a concrete batching plant is 35-40 degree.

Material used in Screw Conveyors?

Hardened materials like metals having higher carbon content are usually used to manufacture Screw Conveyor. In Case of Concrete batching plants cement & fly ash are the main components to be conveyed.

Difference Between Reversible Drum & PAN Mixer

 REVERSIBLE DRUM MIXER                                                       PAN MIXER

1. Cylindrical in Central part having Conical                    1. Cylindrical Sphere having circular plates

shapes at both the ends.                                                           at the top & bottom of the mixer.

2. One Cone is used to pour the aggregate                         2. Aggregate is filled inside the mixer from

material in the mixer & other cone is used to discharge        opening at the top of mixer and the mix

the mix concrete out of the mixer.                                         concrete is discharged at the bottom of mixer.

3. Entire Drum unit is rotated for Mixing & Discharge     3. Only the Arms & Blades inside PAN Mixer

of Concrete.                                                                             helps in mixing & discharge of Concrete.

4. Reversible Drum are based on Free Mixing type           4. PAN Mixers are based on Forced Mixing

phenomenon as the concrete moves inside the drum             phenomenon as the blades inside are mixing

along with the movement of mixer unit.                                 the aggregate & forming it in concrete.

In case of achieving homogeneity of mixed materials, we can differentiate between the two  Drum Mixer & Pan Mixer that conventional drum type mixer are having lesser homogeneity as compared to Pan mixer, within a specific time frame we can achieve  higher homogeneity in Pan mixers rather than Reversible Drum Mixers. So we at, Navya Engineers & Equipments, emphassis on suggesting contractors & builders to opt for Pan Mixer for their Concrete production requirements.
